Meet the Speaker: Antwane Johnson - FEMA

FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is a sector under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, with a mission to help the public during and before natural disaster emergencies. We are excited to announce Antwane Johnson, FEMA’s Director of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System will be speaking at the Natural Disaster Expo at the Miami Beach Convention Center on February 7 & 8, 2021!

Johnson will be speaking on “A New Phase of Emergency Alerting” which highlights how DHS S&T and FEMA IPAWS provide emergency managers and first responders innovative tools to keep the public alerted and to enhance safety. The Program Planning Toolkit alters the way we currently handle and respond to public emergency situations. Intensive research founded by independent stakeholders have allowed for the development of the toolkit to be elevated for the public good. This program is specifically designed to alert the AWN (alerts, warnings and notifications) community with the requirements they need in order to thrive.

Prior to Johnson’s position as a Director in FEMA, his previous experience includes Director, DOD of the Critical Infrastructure Program and Chief of Information Management Technology and Arms Control Information and Notification in the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
